Midland Gynaecology based in Midland; Western Australia was established in 2022. We have five Gynaecologists who see patients at the private rooms here and also have admitting rights in at St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals. Our support team includes two administration members and nurses from St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals Outpatient's Clinic.
Dr Arun completed her specialist training in the UK in 2017 and practiced as a consultant for a year before relocating to Australia. Since then, she has been consulting in the south metropolitan area and joined St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals in April 2023.
While working in the UK, Dr Arun completed Advanced Training Skills modules in Gynaecology and Advanced Labour Ward practice. She is a certified colposcopist with the British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical pathology and has a post graduate diploma from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive health, Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, UK. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, since 2020.
Dr Arun has a special interest in advanced laparoscopic surgery, laparoscopic hysterectomy, ovarian cystectomy, oophorectomy and early stage endometriosis. She is proficient in colposcopy, vulvovaginoscopy and treatment of benign and precancerous changes, genital tract cancer diagnosis, management of benign gynaecological conditions including menstrual disorders, ovarian cysts, fibroids, polycystic ovarian syndrome, menopause, pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence and its medical management.
Dr Arun has a passion for teaching and research and has presented in national and international conferences. She aims to deliver high quality, women centered care based on current evidence based medicine.
Dr Khalil is a specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist at St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals. He completed his specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology in Qatar, at the country's largest tertiary teaching hospital. He and his family then moved to Perth where he completed his fellowship in training at Fiona Stanley Hospital.
In 2021 he started working at both St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals and Osborne Park Hospital as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Consultant.
He has special interest in advanced laparoscopic surgery and as such Dr Khalil performs laparoscopic hysterectomy, ovarian cystectomy and laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis. Dr Khalil can provide diagnoses and management of endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, polycystic ovarian syndrome fibroids, urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic infections. He can, where possible, perform colposcopy, vaginoscopy and vulvoscopy, LLETZ treatment for women with high grade cervical abnormalities in the Foundry Road suites.
As an experienced obstetrician and gynaecologist, Dr Khalil diagnoses and provides surgical assistance for the management of menstrual disorders. This can include performing hysteroscopy, hysteroscopic resection of uterine polyps / fibroids and endometrial ablation, vaginal prolapse (surgical / non-surgical) and post-menopausal issues.
Dr Khalil works as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Consultant at St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals; he is the Director of Clinical Training for the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department and is heavily involved in teaching medical students at Curtin University and the University of Notre Dame.
Dr Paramanathan completed her undergraduate medical degree with honours at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. She then pursued specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Dublin across several large tertiary maternity units.
Following this she undertook a one year fellowship training in gynaecological oncology at Mercy Hospital for Women in Melbourne in 2011. She has worked as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist across several countries including Ireland, New Zealand and Australia.
As an experienced Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, she diagnoses and treats women with endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome fibroids, menstrual disorders, urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic infections. She also manages women with symptoms of menopause, postmenopausal vaginal bleeding and uterine polyps.
Dr Paramanathan has a special interest in advanced laparoscopic surgery and performs laparoscopic hysterectomy, ovarian cystectomy and laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis. She also performs colposcopy examinations for women with abnormal cervical screening tests and performs LLETZ treatment for women with high grade cervical abnormalities in the outpatient setting. In addition, she also performs vaginoscopy and vulvoscopy.
Dr Paramanathan is the Head of Department in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals and focuses on the delivery of high quality, safe care that empowers women.
Dr Rathnayaka graduated from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 1997. After completing a fellowship at the Colombo University in Sri Lanka she came to Australia to complete her training and fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in Queensland and Victoria.
After completing her fellowship in 2013 Dr Rathnayaka moved to Perth where she worked at Swan District Hospital before transferring to St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals to work as a senior Obstetrican and Gynaecologist.
Dr Rathnayaka has presented at many international scientific meetings and has a keen passion for teaching.
Dr Rathnayaka offers many services including: management of cervical conditions such as abnormal pap smears, colposcopy, abnormal uterine or menstrual bleeding, hysteroscopy, endometrial ablation, pelvic and abdominal pain, ovarian cysts, vaginal prolapse, post menopausal issues and early pregnancy issues.
Dr Tawfeek is a qualified health care professional with extensive experience in obstetrics and gynaecology and advanced experience in endoscopic and robotic surgeries.
He completed his postgraduate training and his medical research work in the United Kingdom and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, UK, The American college of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the International College of Surgeons, USA.
Dr Tawfeek has received a high level of training in general gynaecology with advanced endoscopic and robotic surgical skills in highly recognised training units in the UK, Europe and Australia. He has also completed a Diploma in Gynaecological Operative Endoscopic Surgery, France and a Master Degree in Infertility and Reproductive Medicine, UK. With over 25 years’ experience as an obstetrician and gynaecologist, Dr Tawfeek was the lead endoscopic (key hole) surgeon at Christchurch Women’s Hospital in NZ for various types of gynaecological problems for over 12 years.
Dr Tawfeek has a special interest in pelvic pain and advanced endometriosis, menstrual problems, removal of fibroids, polyps and all types of ovarian cysts, total or subtotal laparoscopic hysterectomies and endometrial ablation in addition to subfertility constructive surgeries and recurrent miscarriages.
